Course Description: The emphasis in Health will be to improve current health choices being made and to broaden the student’s knowledge and application of all aspects of improving one’s well being. The need to make positive changes in one’s lifestyle now and throughout life will be the primary focus of the class.

Physical Education will be an introduction to other physical education classes. Students will participate in individual, group, and team activities.  This will be done through weight training, cardiovascular exercise, and by engaging in assorted physical activities.

Personal Development

Prerequisite: Health/Physical Education
Grade: 10-12
Status: 1 credit

Course Description: The students will benefit from comprehensive weight training and physical fitness activities. Each class period will have an emphasis of either weight training, plyometric exercise or an active class activity. The Physical Education part of this course will reflect the need for regular physical activity in each student’s life. Strength training, cardiovascular exercise, and active team sports will be taught throughout this course.

 

Advanced Physical Education

Prerequisite: Health/Physical Education & Personal Development
Grade: 11 - 12
Status: 1 credit

Course Description: An upper level course for students to experience a variety of fitness methods and activities. Indoor and outdoor exercise methods and activities will be included in this course. Advanced Physical Education can only be taken once during your junior or senior year.
