Course Description: This class is a study of key people, events and issues of American history. Emphasis is placed upon issues that have shaped the nation we live in today. A brief study of pre-Civil War history is covered, but the remaining focus of the class is the study of post Civil War America.

Course Description: This course will examine the history of government and the creation and development of the US federal system. The course is designed to give an in-depth look at the US political arena as well as its history. The course will primarily focus on the US Constitution, its provisions, restrictions, and how it has evolved. The course will also discuss key court cases, formation of policy, and the role of the United States on the international stage. In addition, there will be an examination of other forms of government among European powers, as well as the lasting impact of specific political scientists.
Must select at least one credit from the following to meet graduation requirements.

Course Description: This course will examine the history of the world from the early civilizations to the late twentieth century. The focus of the class will be on the rise of civilizations, empires, and nations, as well as developments in society, science, technology, religion, and culture. The purpose of the course is to provide a comprehensive examination of where Western civilization began, its development and its impact on the world.
World Geography

Course Description: One semester of the World Geography/Sociology credit. This class is an interdisciplinary approach to studying the world and our place in it. Study will include physical and cultural geography, with special emphasis being placed upon how the physical landscape influences human development and how human interaction changes the physical landscape. Key world and regional issues dealing with human interaction with the environment will also be studied.

Course Description: One semester of the World Geography/Sociology credit. The principles and concepts of sociology and the study of society will be the major emphasis. Special notation of the American social system and the experiences of adolescents will be studied. Topics such as child development, psychology, social psychology, family life, economics, government and cultural anthropology will be included.

Course Description: Psychology is the study of the individual. A study of the human behavior and personality development considers the problems, experiences and potentials of behavior and thinking of individuals.
